EXPO Milano 2015

In questo blog mi definisco food reporter e quindi penso sia arrivato il momento di "riportarti" qualche informazione. A tal proposito, ho scelto un tema molto discusso al momento: EXPO Milano. 

Il fine settimana scorso ho dato una sbirciata utilizzando la formula ingresso delle ore 19.00 e te lo racconto tramite alcune foto, insieme ad alcune notizie a riguardo per darti una visione d'insieme di questo grande evento. 

Expo Milano 2015 è l’Esposizione Universale che l’Italia ospita dal primo maggio al 31 ottobre 2015 e l’Italia ha scelto come tema principale “Nutrire il Pianeta, Energia per la Vita”.

Sarà l’occasione per riflettere e confrontarsi sui diversi tentativi di trovare soluzioni alle contraddizioni del nostro mondo: se da una parte c’è ancora chi soffre la fame, dall’altra c’è chi muore per disturbi di salute legati a un’alimentazione scorretta e troppo cibo. Inoltre ogni anno, circa 1,3 miliardi di tonnellate di cibo vengono sprecate. Per questo motivo servono scelte politiche consapevoli, stili di vita sostenibili e, anche attraverso l’utilizzo di tecnologie all’avanguardia, sarà possibile trovare un equilibrio tra disponibilità e consumo delle risorse.

Expo é la piattaforma di un confronto di idee e soluzioni condivise sul tema dell’alimentazione, stimola la creatività dei Paesi e promuove le innovazioni per un futuro sostenibile. Ma non solo. Offrirà a tutti la possibilità di conoscere e assaggiare i migliori piatti del mondo e scoprire le eccellenze della tradizione agroalimentare e gastronomica di ogni Paese.

Con un’area di 1,1 milioni di metri quadrati, facilmente raggiungibile, progettata da architetti di fama internazionale, Expo Milano 2015 è un’esposizione-giardino con più di 12 mila alberi, giochi d’acqua e un lungo canale che circonda l’area. Sui due grandi viali principali, il Cardo e il Decumano, si affacciano i padiglioni dei paesi partecipanti, piazze e aree comuni dedicati agli eventi e alla ristorazione. Le costruzioni seguono criteri di efficienza energetica e sostenibilità nella realizzazione, smontabili e riutilizzabili alla fine dell’evento.

Il sito ospita quattro Aree Tematiche, luoghi in cui viene sviluppato il Tema dell’evento. Si va dal Padiglione Zero, che racconta la storia dell’uomo sulla Terra attraverso il suo rapporto con il cibo, al Future Food District, che spiega come la tecnologia cambierà le modalità di conservazione, distribuzione, acquisto e consumo di cibo. Ci sono poi il Children Park, lo spazio in cui bambini imparano a conoscere i temi di Expo Milano 2015 divertendosi, e il Parco della Biodiversità, un grande giardino in cui viene riprodotta la varietà degli ecosistemi che si trovano sul nostro Pianeta. In città, al palazzo della Triennale, ci sarà Arts & Foods, la quinta area tematica: una straordinaria mostra che racconta come è cambiato il rapporto tra cibo e arte nel corso dei secoli.

Ai Paesi che non realizzano un proprio padiglione, è stata proposta un’innovativa modalità di partecipazione: i Cluster. Questi spazi espositivi uniscono sotto lo stesso progetto architettonico Paesi accomunati dalla produzione di uno specifico alimento o da un determinato tema.

Un visita all’Expo sarà un’esperienza unica fatta di eventi, contenuti, percorsi tematici e grandi architetture. Un vero e proprio viaggio alla scoperta delle culture di tutto il Pianeta. Un viaggio imperdibile e irripetibile tra i popoli arrivati da lontano per offrirci i loro cibi, le loro culture, le loro tradizioni, i loro spettacoli.

On this blog I define myself a food reporter and I guess it's time now to "report" you some useful information. I chose a much-discussed subject right now: EXPO Milano. Last weekend I went there to have a quick look and I used the 19.00 entrance formula. I tell you about through some pictures, together with some information in order to give you a bigger picture about this important event. 

Expo Milano 2015 is the Universal Exhibition that Milan, Italy, is hosting from May 1 to October 31, 2015 and Italy chose “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” as its central theme.

It provides an opportunity to reflect upon, and seek solutions to, the contradictions of our world: on the one hand, there are still the hungry and, on the other, there are those who die from ailments linked to poor nutrition or too much food. In addition, about 1.3 billion tons of foods are wasted every year. For these reasons, we need to make conscious political choices, develop sustainable lifestyles and use the best technology to create a balance between the availability and the consumption of resources.

Expo is a platform for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions on the theme of food, stimulating each country’s creativity and promoting innovation for a sustainable future. It will give everyone the opportunity to find out about, and taste, the world’s best dishes, while discovering the best of the agri-food and gastronomic traditions of each of the exhibitor countries.

Designed by internationally-renowned architects, the site comprises an area of 1.1 million square meters, easily accessible from Milan and the surrounding area. Expo Milano 2015 includes an exposition garden with more than 12,000 trees, water features and a canal. Reflecting the signature urban-planning style of the ancient Romans, the site is based on two wide avenues, the Cardo and the Decumano, where stand the pavilions of the participating countries, the public squares and the areas dedicated to events and catering. Constructed to be energy-efficient and sustainable, the buildings are designed to be removed and reused after the event concludes.

The site hosts four thematic areas. These range from Pavilion Zero, which traces the history of humankind via its relationship with food, to the Future Food District, which explains how technology will change food storage, distribution, purchase, and consumption. Then there are the areas of the Children’s Park, where the young folk can learn about the themes of Expo Milano 2015 while having fun, and the Biodiversity Park, a large garden in which a number of our planet’s ecosystems are reproduced. In Milan itself, at the Triennale museum, will be Arts & Foods, an exhibition exploring how the relationship between food and art has changed over the centuries.

For the countries that chose not to have their own pavilions, it has been created an innovative mode of participation: the Cluster. These exhibition spaces bring together countries that all produce, or have a relationship with, a specific food.

A visit to the Expo site becomes a real voyage of discovery of the planet’s myriad cultures: an unmissable and unique journey among peoples who have traveled from all around the world to offer visitors their foods, cultures, traditions, and spectacular shows.
